2012 Graduates, Listen Up!

Graduates of 2012, the news may look grim for you. A new report by Demos Blog on the state of you

ng America has been released. High school graduates have been hit the hardest by the economic crisis. This year 70% of high school grads will be going to college where they will be facing increasing tuition rates. State universities have been facing budget shortfalls. This means that higher tuition has been passed on to you!

As a recent college graduate, I am fully aware of the harsh realities young graduates are facing today. You either have to borrow money, or get a scholarship (which can be highly competitive). This leaves few choices: either go into debt and hope that you make your money back after graduating or do not attend college and make 10k less than high school grads made in 1980.

The most important thing to remember, high school grads, is that you can force a change. Young voters have been marginalized far too long. Here at the League we are working to help young people get elected and become leaders in their communities. If we can work together we can change our future.
